Francisco Goya (1746-1828) was a Spanish painter known for being a prolific artists of the Romanticism period. He was on the cusp of time placing him as one of the last ‘Old Masters’ and one of the first to be considered ‘Modern’. Francisco Goya’s artworks covered topics ranging from fantastical and mythological creatures to witches and pagan gods. Towards the end of his life his style turned darker and darker covering things such as insanity and immorality in a series now called the ‘Black Paintings’.
